Library Director - Madeline Helser, MSLIS
Madeline started her library career in Indiana in 2011, where she got her first library job as an assistant and programmer in the Children's section. She earned her Master's Degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2015. She then moved to South Carolina, where she worked as a youth services manager, county-wide youth services coordinator, and library branch manager, where she was awarded Librarian of the Year for Beaufort County in 2019. Before moving to Vermont, she worked as an executive director for a poverty focused non-profit, as a children's musical theater director, as a florist, then finally as a coordinator for a non-profit that worked with food rescue.
Madeline lives in Jamaica with their partner Vera, their two cats, and of course Lottie the loveable real life Bluey dog.

Assistant Librarian - Julie Perrin, MSLIS
Julie holds a Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from Simmons University in Boston and comes to Jamaica after more than a decade of experience as a Library Director in New Hampshire. She was named Library Director of the Year by the NH Library Trustees Association in 2020, has been featured in Library Journal for innovative outreach, and is passionate about the role libraries play in strengthening rural communities.
She is a hands-on librarian who believes the future of public libraries lies in redefining literacy for a modern age and expanding inter-generational opportunities for lifelong learning.
She lives on an old farm in Wardsboro with her husband, cats and very well read chickens.

Lynnea Gordon, Substitute Library Assistant
Lynnea is our substitute library assistant, always coming up with new crafts and programs for the youth. You'll find her and her twin girls hanging out when she's filling in for Madeline or Ruby! |
Ruby Hallenbeck, Library Assistant
Ruby Hallenbeck is our "junior" library assistant. She fills in on Thursday afternoons. She recently graduated Leland and Grey as Salutatorian and plans to attend UVM this fall on a full ride scholarship. Ask her what she's been reading lately! |
